Piedmont Has Homecoming Festivities
Friday, October 11, Piedmont Academy celebrated Homecoming 2024 as the Cougars challenged the Eagles of Riverside Preparatory Academy.
Homecoming week sparked pride and spirit among the student body as excitement built in anticipation of Friday night’s game. Piedmont kicked off Homecoming Week 2024 by recognizing members of this year’s homecoming court. Representatives and Miss Cougar received sashes at a special ceremony designed to ignite excitement for the week’s activities. Spirit days included “Character Day”, “Pajama Day,” “Color War Day,” “Country Vs. Country Club” and finishing out the week with “Extreme Piedmont Cougar Spirit.”
Of course, homecoming week would not be complete without a mock homecoming court. Several football players traded in their helmets and cleats for wigs and skirts as they vied for the title of Mock Homecoming Queen and Cougar 2024.
This highly coveted and prestigious honor was conferred to seniors, Mark Myles winning Piedmont’s Mock Miss Cougar and Owen Piedra winning Mock Homecoming Queen.
In concert with Homecoming Week 2024, Piedmont Academy’s Senior Class held a Spirit Chain Contest among the elementary grades. The first-grade class was the lucky winner having over 1,500 links to form the winning chain. First grade is looking forward to celebrating the big win with an ice cream party.
Friday night’s activities commenced with the parade of representatives. Each homecoming court representative made an entrance arriving on the field atop a classic convertible. Halftime festivities included the crowning of Piedmont Academy’s 2024 Homecoming Queen, Teagan Hinson, and Piedmont Academy’s 2024 Miss Cougar, Marissa Holder. On hand to present the crowns were last year’s Homecoming Queen, Mckayla Arnold, and Miss Cougar, Bailey Mobley. The 2024 Senior Mascots, Juniper Nama and Hutch Allen presented each representative with a beautiful sunflower bouquet.
The 2024 representatives from left to right are as follows: Sarah Ellen Stroud (9), Taylor Jenkins (10), Maggie Davis (11), McKenzii Robinette (11), Addison Jones (12), Ella Parker (12), Homecoming Queen Teagan Hinson, Miss Cougar Marissa Holder, Kylee Keck (12), Kolbee Osborne (11), Makenzie Cordell (11), Anslyn Burrell (10), and 9th-grade representative, Naomi Mask.
