Fall 2024

Fall is the most appropriately named season with falling temperatures and leaves.

Although we are having a slow start to Fall 2024, one day we will wake up and see the trees have begun their lovely show.

My sister who lives in Wisconsin recently woke to find their first snowfall. If this had happened to us imagine the panic and surprise. We need to be slowly lulled into a snowfall.

Weathercasters warn us it seems like weeks in advance and no matter how long we have to prepare to get our bread, milk and peanut butter, it is always a surprise, hopefully a good surprise. When working it takes some bravery to get in a car on a snowy day.

News shows will no doubt show leaf peepers crowding roads to see the red, orange, purple, and yellow leaves clinging momentarily to brown branches. Along the way there are apple stands with so many varieties to choose from. A trip to see the leaves in the upper regions of Georgia is easily done.

Baking apple desserts is a must. Braeburn is my favorite to use, not too sweet, not too tart.

Apple pies are easy to do with store bought crust. I still love the apple pie recipe from Minnie Pearl’s cookbook. Never had nothing but high praise for this pie.

So as we wait for our glorious show of color, be happy we live in an area where we get four seasons. Check out | Department Of Natural Resources Division for all the state parks have to offer. And enjoy nature’s most beautiful show. Happy Leaf Peeping.
