JCPS Students Study Weather Patterns
The Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for science include specific standards that address weather.
First grade students at Jasper County Primary School (JCPS) are identifying different weather conditions, such as sunny, cloudy, rainy, and windy, and how these change throughout the year.
To record data collected, students are color coding weather and weaving those colors on a loom. The loom was donated by local artist Dodi Proctor. This hands-on activity not only reinforces the concept of recording data but also engages students in a creative way, blending science and art while connecting them to the required learning targets.
All first-grade students have the opportunity to weave in the Wonder Room at JCPS with the STEM teacher Elizabeth Proctor. Students pictured weaving are in Ms. Tabares first grade classroom.
