Music, Food, & Relatives Equals A Family Reunion
June and July are peak months to hold a family reunion. Kids are out of school and their parents are hoping for some relief. It’s a great way to reconnect with relatives.
This particular family reunion had a special guest, my 100 year old great aunt. The local television station did a special story about her. Back then people didn’t live to be 100 years like they do now.
Food is very important to this event. How many recipes are there for potato salad? Fried chicken, meat loaf, green salad with petite tomatoes, corn salad, lemon meringe pie, slices of watermelon.
Lucky for us we are kin to lots of musicians and singers, in other words free entertainment.
My great aunt lived to be 104 years old so I was so glad I made her 100th, Lummie Smith Presley..
