SCIENCE AT PIEDMONT

Piedmont Academy fifth graders in Gracie Morgan’s class have been diving into physical and chemical changes, and they wrapped up their unit with two exciting hands-on experiments. First up—the S’mores Lab where students explored the properties of each ingredient and identified the physical and chemical changes that occur from assembly to that delicious first bite. Next, they conducted a balloon inflation experiment, mixing vinegar and baking soda to create a chemical reaction that produced carbon dioxide gas—watching science come to life.
