Two Men Die from Accidental Electrocution

HOUSE AT 585 JACKSON LAKE ROAD WHERE MEN WERE ELECTROCUTED

Deputies responded to 585 Jackson Lake Road after receiving a call from a passerby last Friday, April 3.

Upon arrival, deputies found that two individuals had been electrocuted. After investigating the scene, it was determined that the two men were working on the roof of the home and that their ladder had come in contact with the high powered electric line running in front yard of the location.

The men, Samuel Barragan and Francisco Barragan, both from Lilburn, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident knocked out power to some locations in the area, and the road and house were blocked, causing traffic to turn around from each direction while deputies were investigating.

Deputies investigated several other incidents in the last week, including two reports of items being taken from vehicles on Maddux Street in Monticello. There was also an attempted theft by taking, a report of fraudulent activity with no details, and two reports of fraudulent use of a credit card.

Also, in the legal section of the paper today is a notice of seizure, but there was no incident report provided to see what led to that seizure. Johnny Richard Horton, 22, Mansfield was charged with purchase/possession/manufacture/distribute/sale of marijuana and affixing tint to windows or windshields.

In an incident that occurred the previous week, no update was available from the GBI at press time, but Vincente Mendez Santamaria, 45, who was shot, is recuperating in a Macon hospital. Maria Coronel Beltran, 43, died at the scene of the shooting on Burney Drive on March 28.
