More Charges Filed in Fight at Center
After making five arrests, as reported in The News last week, and after further investigations, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) has filed arrest warrants for an additional five individuals.
Willie McGuire, Timothy Lynwood, Jr., Samuel Barron Ross, Jr., Demarcus Sands and Antonio Gude, all of Monticello addresses, have been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and participating in criminal gang activity.
All the charges stem from an altercation that occurred at a party spot on Hwy. 11 south, referred to as “the center.” Apparently a man, working as a security guard at an event there, was beaten up by a number of individuals. Investigation led to charges against at least 10 individuals.
In other action during the period of September 24 through October 1, the MPD reported the following non-related arrests:
•April Leanne Fuller, 20, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Vashon Leon Traylor, 24, Monticello—open container, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and obstruction of an officer.
•Bradley A. Clark, 31, Henderson, KY—driving while license suspended and hold for warrant in Henderson, KY.

In addition, during the period of September 17 through October 1 (two weeks) the MPD responded to 108 calls for service including 33 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, eight escort or convoy, seven each subject needs officer and trouble unknown, five each alarm and accident, four fight, three each speeding auto and vandalism of property.
Also, two each subject with firearms, mechanical break down, theft by taking, welfare check, private property, music/noise complaint, property found, argument and attempt to serve warrant, one each intoxicated driver, intoxicated pedestrian, fire/structure, improperly parked vehicle, injury, shortness of breath, sick, crowd disbursement, juvenile complaint, entering auto, threatening/harassing calls, trespassing, lost property and fraud/theft by deceiving.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reported the following arrests during the period of September 24 through October 1:
•Allen Michael Humphries, 22, Covington—probation violation.
•Kerry Britt Treadwell, 45, Monticello—probation violation.
•Kevin Antony Gutierrez, 18, Monticello—terroristic threats and acts.
Also, during the period of September 14-29 the JCSO reported the following criminal incidents. Anyone with information concerning them, or any other criminal activity, are encouraged to call the JCSO at the anonymous Tips Line 706-JCSO, or 706-468-5276.
•On September 29 a resident on Herds Creek Road in Mansfield reported the theft of gasoline from a vehicle.
•On September 27 a resident on Crow Court in Turtle Cove reported the theft of a refrigerator, a hutch and a table.
•On September 26 a resident on East Mourning Dove in Turtle Cove reported the theft of Marine battery.
•On September 22 a resident on Biltmore Road in North Jasper County reported the theft of platinum ring with stones.
•On September 17 a resident on Bear Creek Marina Road reported the theft of a TV.
•On September 16 a property owner of a house on Sandpiper Drive in Alcovy Shores reported the theft of a photo-smart printer, a TV, an Xbox, a Blu Ray Player, a LCD Monitor, a VCR player, a desk top computer, eight weapons, a scope and an electric guitar.
•On September 14 a citizen reported the theft of 10 inch speaker being stolen from a vehicle on Whippoorwill Road.
In addition, during the period of September 17 through October 1 deputies with the JCSO responded to 322 calls for service including 106 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 24 attempt to serve warrant, 22 subject needs officer, 17 alarm, 13 mechanical breakdown, 12 accident, 11 threatening/harassing calls, and 10 each assist motorist and trouble unknown.
Also, six each domestic, livestock on road and juvenile complaint, five each speeding auto, pick up prisoner/subject and welfare check, four each fight, theft by taking music/noise complaint and road hazard, three each courtesy ride, escort or convoy, extra patrol, four wheeler and abandoned vehicle, two each dog disturbance, burglary, intoxicated driver, mental person, vandalism of property, argument and sex offender check.
Also, one each subject with firearms, direct traffic, fire/structure, special detail, wanted/stolen indicated, shortness of breath, chest pain, utility department needed, fall, heart attack, assault, missing person, child custody case, discharge firearms, entering auto, possible suicide, persons refuse to leave, request DNR and 911 hang up.
