Warning Issued To Property Owners

Jasper County Clerk of Courts Dan Jordan announces the existence and proliferation of a scam possibly being perpetrated on home and property owners.

“It has come to my attention that a company going by the name of Record Retrieval from Atlanta, is sending letters to home and property owners in Georgia. In this letter the persons are being told that they recommend that all U.S. homeowners obtain a copy of their current Grant Deed. They then state that they will deliver to the homeowner a copy of their deed for a fee of $86,” said Mr. Jordan.

Mr. Jordan went on to say that “Homeowners can obtain a copy of their deed for a fraction of this cost from the Superior Court Clerk’s office in their county. Copies normally cost 50 cents per page, and most deeds are just a couple of pages long.”

“Please contact me or someone in my office before paying this company or any other company for this service,” said Mr. Jordan. The clerk’s office is located on the main floor of the Jasper County Courthouse. The telephone number is 706-468-4901.
