Mrs. Christine Braswell Lombard

Funeral services for Mrs. Christine Braswell Lombard, who died Sept. 19, 2013, were held Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at Holy Nation Church in Hillsboro. Bishop Joe L. Ridley officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery.

She was the third oldest child born to the late Jesse and Rosa Braswell of Round Oak. Her elementary education began at White Chapel A.M.E. Church School in Round Oak. She graduated in 1960 from Maggie Califf High School in Gray.

She began her work experience with Southern Bell in Atlanta, then went to work for General Motors where she stayed until retirement.

“Chris” as she as known to family and friends was married to Walter Cargile, and to the union one son, Rory was born. On September 28, 1998, she married Warren “Bay” Lombard of Albany.

Survivors, in addition to her husband and son, include a granddaughter, Antrane’ Key; 12 siblings, Early Braswell of Round Oak, Bernice Jones of Lithonia, Mary Linda Jones of Newnan, Gwendolyn Davis, Patricia Standifer, Leah Dumas, and Debora Braswell, all of Hillsboro, Joseph Braswell of Charleston, S.C., James Anthony Braswell of Covington, Donnie Braswell of Round Oak, Connie Gray of Stockbridge, and Calvin Pitts of Gray, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Calvin Pitts, Darnell Standifer, John A. Clemons, Jr., Harold Dumas, Tony Braswell, and Larray Wimes.

Flower bearers were members of the Maggie Califf High School Class of 1960 and relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of arrangements.
