Robyn Mullis Wins Contest with 14 Right

Jasper County High School Principal Robyn Mullis has been playing The Monticello News football contest about two years…and she has now won twice. That’s pretty good considering there’s been some players for a decade or more that can’t claim two wins.
Mrs. Mullis said when she got to work Monday morning and was reviewing her contest she realized she only missed one. She had correctly picked the winners of 14 of the 15 games listed in last week’s paper. The only one she missed was San Diego’s 33-30 win over Philadelphia.
For her efforts, Mrs. Mullis collected a $25 gift certificate from Doug Currie at Monticello Auto Parts, sponsor of the week. The store was busy when it was time to take the photo, as Clinton Currie who had agreed to give the prize had to go on a wrecker call. Doug Currie was assisting a customer. But, it all worked out.

Mr. Currie and Mrs. Mullis knew each other, because his wrecker had towed her car when she wrecked some time ago, and the cable broke on his wrecker knocking him in the head, causing a serious wound. But, neither is worse for the wear, and they enjoyed visiting a few minutes Monday.
Mrs. Mullis’ score was especially good, considering no other contest player got 14 or even 13 right. Only six more had their names added to the honor roll for correctly guessing the winners in as many as 12 of the games listed.
Whoever is the smartest, or luckiest, player this week will win a prize worth at least $25 from Larry’s 4-Way Stop, sponsor of the week.
Anyone can play, and anyone can win…just be sure to get your entry in to The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 20. Whoever has the most correct guesses, subject to the tie-breaker, will win.
Monticello is off this week, but there’s still plenty of high school, college and pro action for contest players.
The football contest and complete rules are on page 9.
