Cougar Cross Country Teams Do Well
Piedmont Academy’s cross country runners competed at a meet hosted by Oak Mountain last week.
“The course was a tough one,” said coach Traci Brady. “It has lots of hills. Our times were off at this meet, but our runners performed well for the challenging course.”
Mack Brady finished first for Piedmont in the varsity event followed by Austin Bass, Michael Edwards, Chris Coogler, Brice Dodson and Andrew Mitchell.
Lynne Marie Edwards earned a ribbon for the varsity Lady Cougars by finishing in seventh place. She was followed by Savannah McGinnis, Bridgette Phillips, Bailyn Whitaker, and Emmie Kelly.
For the JV boys, Chase Tweedwell finished first among the Piedmont runners, followed by Garrett King and Mason Mize. Coach Brady said the JV girls were also impressive in their efforts.
“They finished second as a team,” Brady said. “The JV girls had several top 10 finishes overall.”
Alina Jablonski was second overall with Emily Mills earning fourth place. Mari Jablonski was sixth followed by teammates Gracie Black and Anne Marie Hildebrant.
“I am expecting big things from the JV girls the rest of the season,” Brady said. “They are a very competitive group.”
