Middle School Lady Cougars Win

The Piedmont Academy Middle School softball team was back in action Tuesday defeating Loganville Christian Academy 8-1.

“We played real well coming off a long weekend,” said coach Dan Funt. “We executed offensively, putting down some bunts and that opened up the field. We made plays defensively and pitched well. We need to keep playing well and continue to improve.”

Cassidy Cook was 2-for-3 Tuesday with two runs and a RBI while Hailey Hooper was 2-for-4 with a run. Lucy Tuggle continued her strong season by going 2-for-3. Madison Morton was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Jordan Camp scored a run.

Morton earned the win Tuesday going four innings and allowing just two hits and one run while recording five strikeouts.

On Aug. 27, the Middle School Lady Cougars dominated Central Fellowship on their way to recording a 13-0 win.

Cook was 2-for-2 at the plate with two runs and a walk while Hooper was 1-for-3 with a run. Rylee Owens was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI with Mattie Johnson adding a 1-for-3 effort with two runs and an RBI.

Tuggle finished 1-for-1 with an RBI and walk and Madison Johnston was 1-for-2 with a run and RBI. MacKensie Johnston was 1-for-2 with a run and RBI and stolen base.

Piedmont took control of the game early with eight runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the second. The Lady Cougars had 11 hits during the win.
