Football Contest Winner Has Perfect Score-15

Jenifer Kirksey, a long-time contestant in The Monticello News football contest won big this week. She was the only contestant, in more than 125 entries, to get a perfect score on the initial 2013 football contest. That’s right, Mrs. Kirksey correctly guessed the winner of every game listed last week.
And, for her trouble, she collects a $25 prize from the Bank of Monticello. Walker Jordan presented the prize to Mrs. Kirksey’s son, Garrett, who kindly offered to collect it for her while she was working.
Mrs. Kirksey doesn’t just play…the whole family does, and so do many of their friends. And, Mrs. Kirksey keeps up with each persons’s picks, and they are sure when the weekend is out of where they placed in the judging.

This week, Mrs. Kirksey and several of her friends got at least 12 right to have their names added to the first week’s honor roll.
At the end of the season, each person who makes the honor roll will have his or her name listed, and submitted in a drawing, with as many entries as they make the honor roll, for the grand prize drawing—four premium tickets to the Chick-fil-A bowl in Atlanta.
This week, it may get a little tougher as more of the colleges play real opponents, and the pros begin play. But, you never know, upsets happen every day. So, if you are a better prognosticator of high school, college, or pro, you are on equal footing, as there are some of each to choose from.
So, sharpen your pencil, put on your thinking cap, and pick the winners in the games listed on page 9 of today’s paper. Be sure to submit your entry no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 6, to be judged. Compete rules are on the contest page.
