David Blanton Bassett
David Blanton Bassett, 46, of Monticello, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, after an accident in Monticello.
Mr. Bassett was born in Atlanta. His mother was the late Mary Jo Blanton Bassett. He was a high school graduate of Avondale High School in DeKalb County, and a graduate from Macon Technical College in Macon. He lived in Decatur for a number of years before moving to Monticello in 1994. He worked as a flight line mechanic for Air Tran and Southwest Airlines.
Mr. Bassett was a huge NASCAR fan; and loved all sporting events, especially football and baseball.
He is survived by his daughter, Alicia Bassett of Mansfield; father, John Wesley Bassett, Jr. of Monticello; brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Dodi Bassett of Social Circle; sisters and brother-in-law, Angie Jones of Huntsville, Ala., and Melissa and Jerry Thomason of Covington; and spouse, Tammy Harden Bassett of Gray.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Dr. Randy Reese will officiate. Pallbearers will be Marty Bilbrey, Ralph Gunn, Charles Mason, Kenneth Mason, Jeff Williamson, Jr., and Jeff Williamson, Sr.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home, 264 Hillsboro Street, Monticello.
