Cross Country Team Does Well

Twenty runners competed for Piedmont Academy in a season opening meet hosted by Loganville Christian Academy Saturday.

“Everyone did well for their first meet this year,” said coach Traci Brady. “We need to continue to work on times and endurance.”

Alina Jablonski placed third for the junior varsity girls (a 2,000-meter run) in 11:27.38. Mari Jablonski was fourth for the JV girls in 12:19.66.

Mack Brady was the top varsity boys runner for Piedmont with a time of 23:05.03, which placed him in the top 40. Other top runners for the varsity boys Saturday included Chris Coogler (26:59.77), Brice Dodson (26:59.87), Austin Bass (27:32.40) and Andrew Mitchell (31:13.07).

For the varsity girls, Savannah McGinnis (30:53.07), Emmie Kelly (31:32.95), Bridgette Phillips (31:56.22), Bailyn Whitaker (31:56.36) and Lynn Marie Edwards (31:57.72) were each in the top 50.

“We are hoping to improve with each meet,” Brady said.
