Younger, Older Students To Be Divided on Buses

Students in Jasper County public schools return to the classroom just three weeks from today, on Thursday, Aug. 8.
In preparation for the upcoming school year, Jasper County Schools Transportation Director Jerry Williams. has announced that many Jasper County school bus routes were restructured this summer.
After many years of planning, the Transportation Department will begin the new school year by separating some of the buses by grade levels.
The following Jasper County congested areas will be divided by Primary/Elementary buses (Pre-K through 5th grade) and Middle/High buses (6th – 12th grade):
Turtle Cove/
Jackson Lake Area
•3 Primary/Elementary School routes
•4 Middle/High School routes
•1 Combined route – all 4 Schools (Bus# 00-1) Herds Creek, Bailey, Grandview, Long Piney Roads
Bear Creek Marina/
County Line Area
•1 Primary/Elementary route
•2 Middle/High routes
Shady Dale Area
•1 Primary/Elementary School route
•2 Middle/High School routes
Newborn Area
•1 Primary/Elementary School route
•2 Middle/High School routes
The buses will pick up and deliver the younger students and another bus will pick up and deliver the older students.

“The buses will not run on the same schedules,” explained Mr. Williams. “Parents should start making preparations and scheduling now for child care for the younger students to load the bus for school and for the return trip home,” he said.
The divided Primary/Elementary routes will depart Jasper County Primary School and Washington Park Elementary School in route to homes a few minutes after 3 p.m.
In addition, the following in-town buses will run a Primary/Elementary route and a Middle/High School route:
12-01—Persons Street, Honeysuckle Street, W. Washington Street, Connor Street
11-01 – Tanyard Street, Spruce Street, N. Warren Street, Northeast Street
08-01 – Penoir Hills subdivision, Brazey Road, Forest Glen subdivision, 147th Street apartments
05-1 – Hillsboro Street, Hunter’s Ridge, MLK Drive, Funderburg Drive
07-03 – Sanders Height, Van Buren Street
03-1 – Blue Ruin Street area, Five Points area, Eatonton Street and Old Hwy 212
Comprehensive bus route information and estimated times will be available on the system web page at www.jasper.k12.ga.us as soon as it is completed, said Mr. Williams.
