Theives Hit Huff Road, Steal Metal

A resident on Huff Road reported the theft of a 100 gallon propane tank, metal stairs, a child’s swing set, a box style TV and a microwave on June 27, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).

Three other criminal incidents reported by the JCSO during the last week include the following:

• On June 27 a resident on Post Road reported the theft of a Georgia license plate.

• On June 26 a resident on Wyatt Road in Shady Dale reported a burglary with no description of any items taken.

• On June 26 a resident on Aikenton Road reported the theft of plastic mailbox.

Also, during the period of June 25 through July 1 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

• Andrea Frederica Barkley, 35, Monticello—probation violation.

• Michael Anthony Stewart, 41, Monticello—hold for warrant in Griffin.

• Eric Dale Cureton, 42, Newborn—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, failure to maintain lane and possession of an open container.

• Neal Clarence Hogan, 69, Lilburn—possession of marijuana less than one ounce and driving unsafe or improperly equipped vehicle.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 179 calls for service including 68 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 22 subject needs officer, 16 alarm, nine trouble unknown, six theft by taking, five each assist motorist and road hazard, and four each domestic and threatening/harassing calls.

Also, three each intoxicated driver, mechanical break down, argument and identity fraud/theft, two each accident, welfare check, checking location and music/noise complaint, one each fight, dog disturbance, prowler report, burglary, speeding auto, intoxicated pedestrian, fire, chase, pick up prisoner/subject, mental person, extra patrol, abandoned vehicle, forgery and 911 hang up.

Also during this period the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

• Garrik Lydon Hogan, 23, Monticello—obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, no tag and driving while license suspended or revoked.

• Walter Mead Carter, 60, Monticello—disorderly conduct.

In addition, during this same period officers with the MPD responded to 72 calls for service including 21 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six subject needs officer, four each alarm and escort or convoy, three each domestic and intoxicated pedestrian, two each direct traffic, mechanical break down, utility department needed, fireworks and road hazard.

Also, one each burglary, assist motorist, speeding auto, accident, chase in progress, special detail, theft by taking, improperly parked vehicles, crowd disbursement, counterfeit, disorderly, possible suicide, private property, trouble unknown, music/noise complaint, vandalism of property, checking location, argument, sick, 911 hang up and persons refuse to leave.
