News Office Will Close Thursday and Friday
Tomorrow, July 4, is Independence Day…the celebration of our nation’s birth and a legal holiday.
Because of that, there will be no mail service. Therefore The Monticello News was published one day early, so our subscribers would not miss out on The News.

The News office will be closed for Independence Day both Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5. However, news tips may be called in to 706-318-7396, messages may be left on the answering machine at the office, 706-468-6511, and e-mail notices may be sent to news@themonticellonews.com.
The Monticello Post Office will be closed tomorrow, July 4, and open only 8:30 to noon on Friday, July 5.
Kenny D’s Restaurant which is closed Monday and Tuesday normally, is also closed today, July 3, and tomorrow, July 4. It will reopen Friday, July 5. Deptula’s Restaurant is closed this week, reopening Friday, July 5.
Local banks and government offices will be closed July 4 only. The public schools are closed all this week, July 1-5.
Monticello Family Foods will be open July 4, but will close at 7 p.m.—one hour earlier than usual.
Venture Medical Center, Monticello Drugs, Dave’s BBQ, Monticello Farm & Garden, Jasper County Lumber Co. and Monticello Auto Parts will all be closed Thursday only.
No other businesses informed The Monticello News of their closing schedule, so if in doubt, it may be best to call ahead to be certain if a business is open during the holiday weekend.
