Two Plead Guilty Aftra Extradition
Michael Andrew Motes and Tina Marie Motes pled guilty to the charge of theft by taking in Jasper County Superior Court on Tuesday, June 11, with Judge James L. Cline, Jr., presiding.
The two were charged by the district attorney’s office on January 18, 2013 for the incident which took place on September 28, 2012 on Hwy. 11 South in Hillsboro, during which household appliances and fixtures were taken from a rental property. After failing to appear to answer the charge, Mr. and Ms. Motes were arrested in Florida on the outstanding warrant from Georgia, and were brought here to face the charges.
After their guilty plea Judge Cline sentenced the two to 10 years to be served on probation and to pay joint restitution of $7,925 to the victim and $270.25 apiece in extradition costs.
After processing nine civil cases, the court took up the probation revocation calendar with results as follows:

•Keifer Wood, on probation for burglary in August 2011, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of entering an auto and use of meth. Mr. Wood was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a state detention center for 90-120 days and upon release be returned to regular probation and ordered to complete out-patient drug treatment.
•Daniel L. Smith, on probation for burglary, criminal tress and obstruction of an officer in August of 2009, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of testing positive for meth, cocaine, marijuana and failure to complete drug treatment. Mr. Smith was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a state detention center for 60-90 days and upon release be returned to regular probation and ordered to complete out-patient drug treatment.
•Hakeel Norwood, on probation for forgery in the first degree in April of 2012, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of marijuana use, curfew violation and failure to report. Mr. Norwood was sentenced to 120 days in the county jail suspended upon entry into a state detention center for 60-90 days and upon release be returned to regular probation and ordered to complete alcohol and drug treatment.
•Labarron Carlston Farrar, Jr., on probation for theft by shoplifting in February of 2013, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of possession of cocaine, disorderly conduct and failure to pay fines and fees. Mr. Farrar was sentenced to 253 days in the county jail with credit for time served.
•Courtlee Taner, on probation for criminal damage to property in November of 2009, was found to have violated his probation via the new charges of failure to appear and giving false residence. Mr. Taner was sentenced to serve 45 days in the county jail with credit for time served, and upon release be returned to regular probation.
•Keith Barry Webb, on probation for aggravated assault on an officer of the law in March of 1999, was found to have violated his probation via the new charge of simple battery. Mr. Webb was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail with credit for time served, and upon release to complete an anger management program and get a mental health evaluation while remaining on active probation.
•Bradley Parker, on probation for family violence in February of 2013, was found to have violated his probation via the new charge of testing positive for meth. Mr. Parker was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail with credit for time served and upon completion complete an out-patient drug treatment while remaining on active probation.
