More Guns Stolen, Some Recovered
On June 3, a resident on Martin Luther King Drive reported the theft of two hand guns, four long guns and a flat screen TV.
According to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) the four long guns were recovered at a site near the burglary, however the two handguns are still missing. As of this printing the case is under investigation by the JCSO and no arrests have been made.
Two other criminal incidents during the last week were reported as follows:

•On June 6, a vehicle located on Bobby Mattison Road was broken into and a woman’s purse was stolen containing a driver’s license, a debit card and medications including Oxicodone and Zanax.
•On June 2 the Prospect Liberty CME Church on Hwy. 11 north was burglarized of speakers and a window air conditioning unit.

Also, during the period of June 4 through 11 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•Barry Keith Webb, 36, Alpharetta—probation violation.
•Tina Marie Motes, 51, Keystone Heights, FL—Jasper County Superior
Court failure to appear.
•Michael Andrew Motes, 36, Keystone Height, FL—Jasper County Superior Court failure to appear.
•Dee Dee Marie Harbin, 26, Monticello—battery.
•Melisa Sherae Moon, 18, Monticello—deposit account fraud (two counts).
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 209 calls for service including 78 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 20 subject needs officer, 10 each mechanical break down and alarm, nine checking location, eight each accident and trouble unknown, and seven road hazard.
Also, six attempt to serve warrant, three each dog disturbance, assist motorist, speeding auto, courtesy ride, escort or convoy, pick up prisoner/subject and juvenile complaint, two each domestic, livestock on road, dead on arrival, music/noise complaint, argument and persons refuse to leave.
Also, one each intoxicated driver, fire/brush, fire/other, fire/vehicle, theft by taking, mental person, wanted/stolen indicated, be on the look out, chocking person, miscellaneous ems, extra patrol, four wheeler, discharge firearms, entering auto, possible suicide, threatening/harassing calls, test call only and vandalism of property.
Also during this period, the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:
•Kevin Patrick Rowland, 49, Griffin—driving the wrong way, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while license suspended or revoked and open container.
•James Todd Benge, 51, Mansfield—public drunkenness.
•Terry Durand Brown, 37, Monticello—probation violation.
•Francis Godfrey Leverette, 45, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked.
During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 87 calls for service including 21 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, seven escort or convoy, four alarm, three each domestic and road hazard, two each dog disturbance, theft by taking and vandalism of property, one each fight, accident, intoxicated driver, fire/other, special detail, pick up prisoner/subject, crowd disbursement, juvenile complaint, discharge firearms, trouble unknown, threatening/harassing calls, argument and fraud/theft by deceiving.
In addition, during the above mentioned period the Georgia Department of Natural Resources reported the following arrests:
•Michelle Lynn Hart, 44, Monticello—driving while license suspended or revoked.
•Betty Louise Bryan, 73, Sparta—driving while license suspended or revoked and failure to maintain lane.
