Leola Taylor Stevens Moore

Leola Taylor Stevens Moore, 83, died at Emory Hospital in Atlanta on June 2, 2013.

Mrs. Moore, also known as “Momma Lee” was born July 2, 1929 in Macon to the late Robert Taylor and Pearl Lou Stevens.

As a child, Mrs. Moore accepted Christ and moved to Atlanta where she attended Atlanta public schools. She later was joined in matrimony to Samuel Lee Moore. In 1962, she moved to Jasper County and worked at Bibb Mills in Porterdale where she retired and continued as a loving house mother to many.

She was an active member of Rock Creek Baptist Church in Mansfield.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four siblings, Nadine Owens, May Francis Stevens, Robert Blocker, and Richard Jones, and a son, Robert “Bobby” Louis Stevens.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia J. Stevens, and Zenobia Slatter, and a special son, Willie Jones; two brothers, Joe C. Jones, and Benjamin Jones; two sisters Shirley Robbins, and Pecola King; two adopted siblings, Thomas D. Smith, and Margaret Walker; six grandchildren, six adopted grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and special family members, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 8, at Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Mansfield. Pastor Roderick West officiated. Interment was held in the church cemetery.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
