Charlene Davis

Charlene Davis, 60, of Monticello, died Thursday, June 6, 2013.

Mrs. Davis was born to the late Charles R. and Mamie L. Lawrence in Monticello, on June 5, 1953. She was the second born of six siblings in which only one, Jacquelyn Alexander preceded her in death.

Mrs. Davis joined Springfield Baptist Church at an early age. She married her high school sweetheart Marvin Davis on October 20, 1973 and unto this union three children were born.

In addition to her devoted spouse/soulmate, survivors include three sons, Marvin “Boot” Davis, Jr., Vincent E. “Pokey” Davis, and Marshall J. “Sweet Pea” Davis; two stepfathers and wives, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Alexander and Willie Ward; siblings and spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Watson, Minnie Lawrence, Shurlene Lately, and Eric Lawrence; three grandchildren, Vindarius Davis, Armani Harrison, and Isaiah Davis; and a host of inlaws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral services are to be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Springfield Baptist Church. Interment in Southview Cemetery.
