Margaret Gemma DeCesaris Mudd

Margaret Gemma DeCesaris Mudd, 85, of Fenwick Island, De. and a former resident of Deale, Md., died May 20, 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md.

She was born February 18, 1928 in Philadelphia, Pa. to the late Marco and Ida (Jennetti) DeCesaris. Mrs. Mudd was raised in Washington, D.C., graduated from Eastern High School and later moved with her family to Charles County.

She married F. Raymond Mudd, Jr. on November 21, 1948 and they lived in Prince George’s County until moving to Deale, Md. in 1965.

Mrs. Mudd owned and operated Mudd’s Liquors with her family in Deale. She was previously employed by the federal government and the Hecht Company.

Mr. Mudd passed away in 1975, and in 2000, Mrs. Mudd relocated to Fenwick Island, De.

She was an active member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ocean City, Md. and was also a longtime member at Our Lady of Sorrows in West River, Md. where she served as a Eucharist Minister for many years. She was also a member of the Sons of Italy and the V.F.W. Post 8296 in Ocean City.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards with “her girls,” watching the Redskins and Orioles, but most of all she cherished the time she had with her family.

She is survived by her children Catherine M. Wright, and husband Dewey, of Monticello, Francis Raymond Mudd III, and wife Heidi of Deale,Md., and James E. Mudd, and wife Kathy of Monticello.

Also surviving are grandchildren Francis Raymond Mudd IV and wife Terri of Lothian, Md., Christine E. Clark and husband Shane of Annapolis, Md., Albert A. Mudd and wife Jessica of Deale, Md., Dewey A. Wright and wife Kelly of Atlanta, Alison Keener and husband James of Jackson, Amanda Brewer and husband Tommy of Flovilla, Jessica L. Thompson and husband Timothy, James E. Mudd and Hannah and Emily Pope, all of Monticello; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, Md. 20778.

Pallbearers are Ray Mudd, Albert Mudd, Shane Clark, Jim Mudd, Dewey Wright, and James Keener.

Interment will be held at St. Peter Parish Cemetery, 3320 St. Peter’s Drive, Waldorf Md. 20601. Contributions can be made to Deale V.F.D., 6007 Drum Point Road, Deale Md 20751.
