HOME IS DESTROYED BY FIRE

There were several fires in Jasper County over the weekend beginning with a fire call Friday night at a deer camp on Juliette Rd. off Hwy. 83 south, just after 9 a.m.
Upon arriving on the scene, the homeowner had the fire out which started in the stove, and personnel from stations 3 Monticello, 4 Hillsboro, and 5 Piedmont all responded. Firefighters inspected the premises and extinguished any hot spots found.
The second call was to the house pictured above on Blackwell Rd. at 2:46 a.m. Engine 3 from Monticello arrived at 2:59 a.m. to find a house fully involved in flames. Stations 3, 4, 5, 2 Shady Dale, 7 Farrar, 1 Jackson Lake to find it fully involved. Investigations are ongoing, according to Jarrett Slocumb, Fire Chief, and the cause is undetermined at press time.
Chief Slocumb did determine that the fire started in the kitchen area of the home. No one was home at the time of the fire. Firefighters were back at the home later Saturday morning when the fire rekindled.
