Travels

After over 11,000 miles, I am back in Monticello. On our trip to France and Italy, we traveled over 10,000 miles by airplane, hours by trains, boat, trams, taxis, and buses.

We climbed up a steep mountain to Eze, France, located halfway between Nice and Monaco. We strolled through the 2,000 year old streets of Florence, Italy, hearing music by Michael Jackson as we observed one of the 20 copies of the statue of David by another Michael, Michaelangelo.

Enjoyed eating dinner at a sidewalk cafe in old Nice, cooked and served by a recent immigrant from Tunisia.

Visited the Cinque Terre (Five Lands) on the west coast of Italy. The towns reminded me of Pigeon Forge on a summer afternoon, oh, thousands of us, tramping through the cobble stone streets buying key chains, spice grinders, magnets.

And at the end of the streets, the beautiful view of the azure Mediterranean, so it was worth the trip.

Right now it is midnight where we have been, but amazingly our bodies adjust quickly and back to our time and reality.

Have fun where ever your travels may take you this year!
