Ipod Is Reported Stolen at High School

Last Friday, May 10, it was reported to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) that a 16 GB Fourth Generation Apple I-pod had been stolen from an individual at Jasper County High School.

According to information received from the JCSO the complaint reported the theft had actually taken place on Thursday, May 2.

Anyone with information concerning the above, or any other criminal activity, is encouraged to contact the JCSO at 706-468-4912.

Also, during the period of May 6-13 the JCSO reported the following arrests:

• Dana Elliott Neill, 42, McDonough—reckless conduct.

• Richard Duane Thompson, Jr., 26, Covington—hold for warrant in Newton County.

• James Todd Benge, 50, Mansfield—false report of a crime.

• Daniel Kipp Smith, 48, Monticello—probation violation.

• Jessie James Gude, Jr., 46, Monticello—probation violation.

• John Erick Smith, 37, Monticello—hold for warrant in Newton County.

During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 213 calls for service including 91 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 15 checking location 14 subject needs officer, eight alarm, seven each assist motorist and trouble unknown, six accident, four each pick up prisoner/subject, welfare check, threatening/harassing calls and attempt to serve warrant.

Also, three each speeding auto, courtesy ride, livestock on road, mechanical break down and music/noise complaint, two each fight, prowler report, domestic, private property, property found, road hazard, vandalism of property, argument and abandoned vehicle, one each dog disturbance, hit and run, escort or convoy, fire, chase in progress, theft by taking, wanted/stolen indicated, extra patrol, four wheeler, private property, persons refuse to leave and illegal dumping/littering.

In addition, during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the following arrests:

• Anthony Mark Robinson, 23, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

• Rico Antonio French, 23, Macon—party to a crime.

During this same period officers with the MPD responded to 72 calls for service including 25 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, six subject needs officer, four escort or convoy, three each fight, alarm, theft by taking, juvenile complaint, music/noise complaint and vandalism of property, two each accident, threatening/harassing calls and argument, one each speeding auto, fire, pick up prisoner/subject, four wheeler, discharge firearms, private property, trouble unknown, property found, shoplifter, trespassing, persons refuse to leave, lost property and fraud/theft by deceiving.

During this same period the Depart of Natural Resources reported the arrest of Joseph Kane Sells, 18, of Jackson, and charged him with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
