‘Older’ Education
As of this quarter in college I have now been going to some school, on and off, for the last 47 years.
The college sent me a letter last quarter and informed me that I had enough hours to be a sophomore. Give or take another 47 years, I should graduate. Right?!
Attending college with students who range in age from 16 up is like watching a movie of your own life.
Yesterday I talked to an 18 year old girl in my class who told me that she has 11 more years in school to be a neurologist.
Another student about the same age told me she was going to work at Sea World as a dolphin caretaker.
An older student, 22 years old, said she was going to be a food scientist and move to Indonesia.
Don’t you just love youth? Remember when we had those optimistic ideas, well, before we found out that life throws you some hard balls and wild pitches. I put that in since its baseball season.
If you want to join in the fun though and you are 62 years or older, go back to college for FREE.
You can attend a local college tuition free and take whatever course that interests you.
I have taken film, yes, film. We learned about how the film industry started, watched a few movies in class. I also took public speaking; a few of those student speeches were enlightening and I am sure the other students enjoyed my old ideas. The sky is the limit.
And please I need some company. The majority of the students are very nice to the old gal sitting by the window, but I am definitely the minority.
I think the teachers appreciate having someone closer to their age and not afraid to ask a question if confused and you will be confused.
Good news for my editors, I are now pass English, so me write so gooder.
