High School Is Vandalized; Or Senior Prank
An incident which took place at Jasper County High School either late last Thursday or early last Friday, April 19, entailed library books being removed from shelves and a live chicken and balloons being let loose inside the school, according to information received from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO).
As of this printing, investigators with the JCSO report they are waiting for the school to determine if the incident should be handled as a criminal act, or if the school will take administrative sanctions.
Four separate criminal incidents reported by the JCSO are reported below. Anyone with information concerning them, or any other criminal activity, is encouraged to contact the JCSO at 706-468-4912:

•On April 21 a resident in a trailer park on Hwy. 16 west reported an active burglary, however upon arrival of the JCSO no items were discovered taken.
•On April 18 a resident on Blue Heron Drive reported the theft of a Dodge Van. After investigation by the JCSO two juveniles were arrested for theft by taking, one of which was also charged with driving without a license.
•On April 15 a resident of Marben Farms Road in Shady Dale reported the theft of two Direct TV receivers, cordless phones, an electric stove and a propane gas tank.
•On April 17 a property owner on Biltmore Road reported that on April 11 an electrical fuse box and an air compressor had been stolen.
Also, during the period of April 16-23 the JCSO reported the following arrests:
•Suzanna Elizabeth Locklear, 39, Monticello—hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
•Mitchell Alton Sailors, 44, Monticello—aggravated assault, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and probation violation.
•Sharon Epps Berry, 46, Monticello—possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
•Michael Samuel Petty, 17, Jackson—burglary.
•Jamie L. Carlton, 33, Covington—hold for warrant in DeKalb County.
•Teri Lynn Tyler, 56, Monticello—probation violation.
•William Charles Jackson, 29, Monticello—hold for warrant in Jones County.
•Robert Allen Robinson, 27, Monticello—probation violation.
During this same period deputies with the JCSO responded to 271 calls for service including 148 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, 10 each subject needs officer and accident, nine checking location, eight trouble unknown, seven each alarm, mechanical break down and road hazard, five livestock on road, four each assist motorist and pick up prisoner/subject.
Also, three each domestic, four wheeler and attempt to serve warrant, two each dog disturbance, speeding auto, courtesy ride, escort or convoy, wanted/stolen indicated, extra patrol, child custody case, juvenile complaint, indecent exposure, threatening/harassing calls, vandalism of property, trespassing, abandoned vehicle and license check/road block, one each burglary, fire, theft by taking, chest pain, unconscious, crowd disbursement, missing person, welfare check, private property, music/noise complaint, persons refuse to leave, vgcsa, sick, 911hang up and identity fraud/theft.
In addition, during the period mentioned above the Monticello Police Department (MPD) reported the arrest of Camillo Barranco Torres, 31, of Monticello, and charged him with driving with no license.
During this period officers with the MPD responded to 51 calls for service including 21 stopping suspicious person/vehicle, three each alarm, escort or convoy and argument, two each subject needs officer, juvenile complaint and music/noise complaint, one each dog disturbance, burglary, hit and run, direct traffic, mechanical break down, chest pain, fall, overdose, crowd disbursement, four wheeler, counterfeit, discharge firearms, checking location, road hazard and fraud/theft by deceiving.
